Performance

Verda is a specialist producer of outdoor wood products. Our products are engineered to be the best they can be for outdoor applications. We have developed tree selection and cutting protocols, focused processing and manufacturing techniques and patented coatings and engineering solutions to enhance our products performance in severe climatic conditions. The outdoors is the harshest environment for any product. Weathering is unstoppable as the ever changing natural landscape shows but Verda continuously works to improve our products and their performance outdoors to stand the test of time. Verda products are truly Engineered for Outdoor.

Timber selection

Verda selects only high quality clearwood for processing into products. Such clearwood is defect free (depending on grade) which markedly enhances the visual purity of Verda products and reduces shrinkage and improves overall dimensional stability. Verda mainly selects its clearwood timber from a range of forests on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand.

Timber Cut and Grain

Verda specialises in sawing logs to yield timber with a straight grain pattern. Straight grained timber is less susceptible to checking, splitting and distortion and provides a more consistent final appearance.

Manufacturing

Verda manufactures all its timber products in New Zealand using "best practice" approaches. From our sawmill in Napier, New Zealand, to our manufacturing operations in Rotorua – product quality is paramount and Verda is constantly seeking more effective ways to enhance our processing and manufacturing systems to increase productivity and performance. Our Weinig Planners are designed and operated to give a high quality dressed finish to all our outdoor timber products.

Durability

NZ Clearwood is one to the most easily treated timbers in the world due to its relatively high permeability. The effectiveness of our timber treatment process is further enhanced due to the selection of clearwood. The use of Tannalith E, which is a new generation timber preservative free of chromium and arsenic ensures that we can provide an extended guarantee from Arch Wood Protection Ltd (NZ) for our products for 25 years against rot and insect attack. The durability of Verda products are also improved through the use of proprietary coating systems that form a protective envelop of coating around the timber adding to water repellency, colour fastness and stability.

Finishing

The finishing of our timber products is critical to enhancing their use, safety, stability, and appearance. To ensure that every product has the highest quality finish we rigorously grade our timber to exacting grade specifications, gauge and dress timber to fine tolerances, ensure smooth and consistent gauged faces, and coat the timber with a semi-transparent coating infused into the timber resulting in an even envelop treatment.

Packaging

Care of our products all the way to users ensures that quality products arrive every time. Verda is constantly improving its packaging systems to reduce materials, protect products to the highest standard, take into account sustainability aspects in particular recyclability of packaging materials, and to simplify the installation process. Maintaining high performance packaging is part of our quality assurance systems.

Installation

Verda uses high quality fittings and accessories for installation for example 3mm marine grade stainless steel brackets for our balustrades. These finest of fittings give the final products a superior appearance and provide the confidence that they have been made with care and consideration of all aspects to ensure they perform under the harshest of outdoor conditions.
